Om (ôm)
A river, about 724 km (450 mi) long,
of south-central Russia
flowing
westward to join the Irtysh River at Omsk.
Om also Aum (om) noun
Hinduism & Buddhism.
The supreme and most sacred syllable,
consisting in
Sanskrit
of the three sounds (a), (u), and (m), representing various fundamental triads
and believed to be the spoken essence of the universe. It is uttered as a mantra
and in affirmations and blessings.
[Sanskrit om.]
ohm (om), unit of
electrical
RESISTANCE, defined as the resistance to the
flow
of a steady electric current offered by a column of
mercury
14.4521 grams in mass with a length of 1.06300 m and with an invariant cross-sectional
area, when at a temperature of 0 degrees centigrade.

Ohm, Georg Simon
Ohm, Georg Simon (1787-1854), German physicist, born in Erlangen. He formulated the relationship between current, electromotive force, and resistance, known as Ohm's law. The ohm, the unit of electrical resistance, was named in his honor.
Energy, 1827
German physicist Georg Simon Ohm,
38, finds that the current flowing through an electrical conductor is proportional
to the voltage across it and inversely proportional to its resistance. This
will be called Ohm's Law and the practical unit of electrical resistance will
be called the ohm to honor Ohm's discovery of the relationship between the strength
(or
intensity)
of an unvarying electrical current (the electromotive force) and the resistance
of a circuit (Ampère, 1820).
ohm
ohm (om) noun
Abbr. o
A unit of electrical resistance equal
to that of a conductor in which a current of one ampere is produced by a potential
of one volt across its terminals.

- ohm´ically adverb
Ohm, Georg Simon
Ohm (om), Georg Simon
1789-1854
German physicist noted for his contributions to mathematics,
acoustics, and the measurement of electrical resistance.
The mathematical treatment of the theory of sound was
begun by English scientist
Sir
Isaac Newton. He showed that the spread of sound through fluid depends only
on measurable qualities of the fluid, and he calculated theoretically the speed
of sound in air. The complete mathematical treatment of sound depends on harmonic
analysis, which was discovered by French mathematician Baron Jean Baptiste Joseph
Fourier in 1822 and applied to sound by German physicist Georg Simon Ohm.

OM
The imperishable sound,
is the seed of all that exists.
The past, present, the future,
all are but the unfolding of OM.
And whatever transcends the three
realms of
time,
that indeed is the flowering of OM.
This pure self and OM are as one,
and the different quarters of the self
correspond to OM and its sounds.

The
Masonic
Secret Word:
![]() |
Not to be confused with the password. The Word (always capitalized) is so secret that initiates are taught it one letter at a time. First they learn A, then O, then M, and finally I. The Word is IAOM.
You never get a straight story as
to what it means. As best as anyone can figure, it is the ineffable name
of god, or some approximation thereof. The Word (or Name) is a
tongue-
twister.
It takes some practice to get it right. The following pronunciation guide
is from _Masonry and Its Symbols in the Light of Thinking and Destiny_ by Harold
Waldwin Percival:
The Name is pronounced as follows: It is started by opening the lips with an "ee" sound graduating into a broad "a" as the mouth opens wider with lips forming an oval shape and then graduating the sound to "o" as the lips form a circle, and again modulating to an "m" sound as the lips close to a point. This point resolves itself to a point within the head. Expressed phonetically the Name is "EE-Ah-Oh-Mmm" and is pronounced with one continuous out-breathing with a slight nasal tone in the manner described above. it can be correctly and properly expressed with its full power only by one who has brought his physical body to a state of perfection...

Aumnia - Tsuyoshi Suzuki - one of the best indoor parties and one of the first
promoted as a "goa" party on the West Coast. we caught sloshi at the height
of his powers when he was into turbo charged noise funk with mostly DAT mixing
(which focuses more on the tracks and energy and not how easily one can mix
the track which distracts from my overall experience). the crowd was very
diverse, and as usual with L.A. no one knew what to make of it and treated it
like another massive. this in actuality was kind of fun because the energy
was there. i believe this was at the Alexandria Hotel. after party at
Alex Cornfeld's. all in all, a very memorable night.

and we be beating

Om (or Aum) is a sacred syllable in, both, Hinduism and
Buddhism. The syllable is sometimes referred to as, "the Udgitha".
The Chandogya Upanishad (1.1.1-10) states, "The udgitha is the best of
all essences, the highest, deserving the highest place, the
eighth."
It has been argued that Om can be translated, into English, as "yes".
Notes the Chandogya Upanishad, "That syllable, is a syllable of permission;
for, whenever we permit anything, we say Om."
Om is a river in Russia; it is ~724km long.
