Stonehenge, group of standing stones on Salisbury Plain, Wiltshire, S England. Preeminent among MEGALITHIC MONUMENTS in the British Isles, Stonehenge is enclosed by a circular ditch 300 ft (91 m) in diameter. The stones are arranged in four series: the two outermost form circles; the third is a horseshoe shape; the fourth is an ovoid form. Within the ovoid lies the Altar Stone. Most archaeologists agree that Stonehenge served some sort of religious function. In 1963 the British astronomer Gerald Hawkins theorized that Stonehenge was used as a huge astronomical instrument.

I visited Stonehenge in June 1999.  I didn't go very near it, as I felt I didn't need to.   i felt some strange internal linkelectricity in the air.  it was overcast, and i just felt that a bit of restraint and respect was needed.  i knew the presence through the replica i visited in Washington State.  to me Stonehenge isn't about the stones.  it's the place.  the area.  i know nothing about ley lines or anything like that.  i just knew i felt something.  all i know is that it's near a high concentration of unexplained crop circle formations. - @Om* 12/9/99

Stonehenge Julia Set.  First reported on 7 July 1996, this internal linkimpressive formation apparently appeared within the space of half-an-hour or so, in broad daylight, right next to one of the most visited sites in the world.   Measuring 900 by 500 feet, with 151 circles, the glyph was visited by thousands of people.  The farmer wisely chose to charge an admission into the field, and recouped the cost of his damaged field many times over.  This intricate glyph was one of two Julia Sets to appear in the summer of 1996, and was linked to internal linkfractals, and possibly internal linkchaosHail Eris! theory (or even the new vogue of chaos internal linkmagic).  Stonehenge is one of a number of places that attract crop circles over and over again through the years, along with Silbury Hill, the Punch Bowl at Cheesefood Head and East Field at Alton Barnes, to name a few.  However, Stonehenge appears to be one of the pivotal points in the world of crop circles, with a majority of the formations occurring within a forty-mile radius of theWorld Heritage site.

Just north of Alliance Nebraska, along Highway 87, stands a replication of Stonehenge, England's ancient mystical alignment of stones that chart the sun and moon phases.  Stonehenge stands alone on a plain in England. Carhenge, created from vintage American made automobiles, towers over the plains of Nebraska.
