Vespa motor scooters are introduced in Italy to provide cheap if noisy transportation. Aircraft maker Enrico Piaggio, whose works at Pontadera were destroyed by Allied bombers, has had his chief engineer Corradino d'Ascanio design the scooter to give him a product with which to resume production, and he calls it by the Italian name for "wasp."

I'm considering buying something new this year. I'm looking into YAMAHA XV920 (leftovers still available)
BMW ST80 (street version of monoshock model)
Any advice from owners or riders of same would be apreciated.
